barbeque with friends

there's nothing like barbeque with friends, but if you're in Brussels and it's March, then make sure you're not one of those unlucky ones waiting by the barbeque for the koftes to be ready and suffering in the cold. If you are, then jump to keep warm, race with the neighbors' German shepard along the fence, and photograph your friends inside (also think about the advantages of living in Cairo)

Just outside my favorite museum in Istanbul, Istanbul modern. We decided to spend some time here, visiting the photo exhibit and afterwards drinking lemonade while enjoying the Bosphorus. Just like this teyze..

my trunk

It's good to still have a car somewhere that I call mine. It means that I can leave essential stuff in the trunk for survival. This would mean a jacket, some sweaters, and a coat which I normally don't carry around with me in my travels. I only need these in Brussels. In Egypt, only Egyptians wear coats. Foreigners can get away with t-shirts.

modern arches

I was used to photographing the arches of mosques in Cairo. These days while spending more time in Brussels, my eyes immediately drifted to the modern versions.

I've always had a fascination for toy trains. Maybe because I didn't have one as a kid.

belly dancer

More than the belly dancer, what I remember from this night is the weird stuff I ate. I still don't know what part of the lamb it was and I'm not sure I want to find out.

mi amigo

I didn't get to listen to music while waiting for boarding the plane. First, the airport cat came along and I took its pictures as it walked around the passangers and lay on the floor as if it didn't care about anything. Then my curious friend came. I gave him a piece of my brownie, then we played a little with my ipod. Finally, I took his photos. In the last photo, he was complaining that I wasn't giving him the camera. And he kept on saying "yo, yo, yo..." How could I when he was giving me such great shots? I was torn between 3 photos today, one of the cat, the other my friend smiling and showing me his matchbox car, and finally him being upset with me. When his mother asked him to leave me alone, he said I was "mi amigo". I got to polish my rusted Spanish tonight, gracias mi amigo...
